In this episode, Kristin goes on a tear about just how tricky it can be to determine what goes into the CMS (Content Management System) and what doesn’t. We talk about how this can effect the usability of the CMS itself, and how these decisions can effect the long term success of the website. We also talk about writing site documentation and training clients; will our clients recall how to edit their site three months from now? A year from now? And how much can we really do for folks who aren’t comfortable with their CMS editor?

I find that a lot of CMS’s have really confusing UIs. Now I think I’m starting to understand why.

Indeed, a lot of decisions. Challenging to navigate. It’s hard for me to trust the business would have the expertise to get the results a professional would especially in a competitive market niche. A business might actually do harm into the future even with the simplest tasks.
